At heart, my work has always been about one thing: bringing people together and creating spaces where everyone feels supported, connected, and empowered to thrive.Solidaridad Colombiana en la Gran MontrealFounder & Director (2010–2025)What began as a localized initiative on Facebook to support incoming families grew into one of the most vibrant, high-impact cultural networks in Quebec. Over 15 years, I built and managed a community of more than 27,000 members, bridging the gap between newcomer settlement, economic participation, and social integration.Resource & Economic Networking: Designed systems for crowd-sourced job leads, housing references, professional networking, and emergency assistance for newly arrived families.Cultural Connection: Organised offline gatherings, cultural initiatives, and peer-support networks to make integration smoother while preserving heritage and belonging.Community Advocacy: Served as a primary liaison and point of contact for local organizations, municipal initiatives, and community leadership across Greater Montreal.Recognitions & HonorsPresidential Commendation — Personally addressed letter from the Colombian President of the time, Juan Manuel Santos, recognizing my exceptional leadership and service to the Colombian diaspora and regional community integration.Latin American Pride Prize (2015) — Awarded for outstanding contributions to social cohesion and cultural representation in Quebec.Outstanding Colombian Abroad (2012) — Awarded in recognition of impact in building solidary networks for newcomers.Local Event Architecture & Community InitiativesSince moving to Nova Scotia, that same passion for human connection continues through grassroots event design, music, and social gatherings on the South Shore.Social & Cultural Events: Designing and hosting inclusive, recurring dance nights, live music performances, and community celebrations that bring diverse demographics together.Active Community Programming: Co-leading neighborhood initiatives—from community bike rides to interactive language and music workshops—designed to break down social isolation and foster real-world relationships.Collaborative Consulting: Helping local businesses, non-profits, and venues create engaging, people-centered experiences that drive local engagement and bring vibrant energy to shared public spaces.
